Mauro Pochettino has professed himself confused over Sean Dyche’s post-match complaints about Moussa Sissoko.

The Burnley boss said he thought a two-footed challenge by the French midfielder on Stephen Ward was “so obviously” a red card though referee Kevin Friend awarded Sissoko only a yellow.

Moments later Sissoko, a second-half replacement for Mousa Dembele, provided the assist for Danny Rose’s 71st minute winner, Dele Alli having cancelled out Ashley Barnes’ opener in the first half.

And Pochettino was far from convinced by Dyche’s suggestion that Sissoko should have seen red.

“It is difficult for me to see on TV but from my position I cannot say one thing or another,” Pochettino said in his post-match press conference.

“I can't understand (Dyche), maybe he thought that (the challenge should have been a) red card.

“From my position at the bench, I think it wasn't a sending-off, it wasn't a red card - maybe a yellow or perhaps it was good but it is difficult.”
