Huge Liverpool boost as Mohamed Salah trains ahead of Sparta Prague and Man City games

Two key matches on the horizon for the Reds

Liverpool fans were greeted with the welcome sight of Mohamed Salah back in training on Wednesday.

The Egyptian winger has missed the last four games due to a muscle injury, having only featured once off the back of an early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

In that time, Liverpool have managed to lift the Carabao Cup and maintain their challenge for the Premier League and FA Cup, thanks in part to the impressive rise of youngsters such as Jayden Danns.

But the return of Salah, 31, during an open session at the club’s training base is a vital boost for the Reds ahead of a key run of matches.

They fly out to Czech Republic on Wednesday afternoon for the first leg of their last-16 Europa League tie with Sparta Prague.

Following that, they host title rivals Manchester City at Anfield. The return leg with Sparta and an FA Cup quarter-final trip to Manchester United then await before the international break.

Jurgen Klopp is already resigned to losing a number of injured stars until after that break, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker and Curtis Jones all eyeing a comeback for the March 31 clash with Brighton, at the earliest.

It still remains to be seen if Salah will be ready to play a part in Prague or if he will be held back for the City game.

“I don’t think Mo is too far off but he will not feature tomorrow,” Klopp said last week.

“Next week, at any point, it’s possible. He’s on the way back, definitely.”
