Piers Morgan was less than impressed when BAFTA revealed the seating plan for the upcoming TV Awards.

The awards body gave their Twitter followers a sneak preview of the guest list for Sunday night’s ceremony as they shared a picture of empty seats at the Royal Festival Hall’s auditorium, marked with photos of celebrity attendees.

Bodyguard star Keeley Hawes and Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer, who are both nominated in the Leading Actress category, appear in the front row alongside Queer Eye’s interior expert Bobby Berk, rapper and TV host Big Narstie and Leading Actor nominee Benedict Cumberbatch.

Britain’s Got Talent hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s faces feature in the second row, where they’ll be joined by the likes of Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and actress Billie Piper.

“Just some of the stars you’ll see at the @virginmedia #BAFTATV Awards this Sunday!” the caption read. “Who can you spot in the crowd?”

Morgan quickly noticed that he’d been placed in the fourth row alongside his Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid, and wasn’t afraid to voice his displeasure.

“I’d better be nearer the front than that…” he wrote as he shared the original post, prompting BAFTA to hit back with: “You’ll sit where you’re told Piers!”

“You clearly haven’t worked with me before,” he responded.

The controversial presenter was met with a wave of savage replies on Twitter, with followers pointing out that he had been “relegated” to the back.

“Should be further back,” one Twitter user wrote, while others suggested that he should be “happy” to be in such close proximity to Bros stars Luke and Matt Goss.

The star-studded ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 12. Thriller Killing Eve has dominated this year’s race with six nods, including Drama Series and Leading Actress nominations for both Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh.

BBC hits A Very English Scandal, Bodyguard and Mrs Wilson have also picked up a handful of nominations.

The awards bash will air on BBC One from 8pm on Sunday, May 12.
