Holly Willoughby confessed that she is feeling “full of a whole host of emotions” after dropping off her youngest son Chester for his first day of school.

The This Morning star, 38, shared a selfie of her and the four-year-old walking hand in hand, with her son’s face turned away from the camera.

Willoughby, who is returning to the ITV show today after a seven-week summer break, thanked her bosses at This Morning for “moving heaven and earth” to allow her to accompany her son on the special day.

“And he’s off… full of a whole host of emotions watching him walk through the classroom door,” she wrote.

“My baby is growing up… thank you @thismorning for moving heaven and earth so I could drop him off… that’s a day we will both never forget.”

The TV presenter excitedly anticipated the start of the school year in an Instagram post shared on Sunday, which showed three pairs of black school shoes lined up by her front door.

“Back to school… who else’s front door looks like this…,” she wrote.

“Big day for Chester tomorrow, 1st day of school… Good luck to anyone else starting their school journey… can’t believe he’s at this stage already.”

Willoughby also shares Harry, 10, and Belle, eight, with her husband, TV producer Dan Baldwin.

She and her family enjoyed a trip to Portugal during the school summer holidays, where they were joined by Willoughby’s presenting partner Phillip Schofield and This Morning guest host Rochelle Humes.

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, who usually present the Friday edition of This Morning, stepped in to cover Willoughby and Schofield’s absence over the summer.

This Morning airs from 10.30am weekdays on ITV.
