Emma Watson fans have had their first glimpse of the actress as Belle in the forthcoming Beauty and the Beast film.

Walt Disney Pictures revealed the first teaser trailer for the live-action remake on Monday which shows Belle making her way into the Beast’s castle.

The one and a half minute clip pans around the derelict property before the front door opens and Ewan McGregor’s character Lumiere proclaims: “Look a girl!”

Cogsworth (Ian McKellen) replies: “Yes I can see it’s a girl you fool.”

To which Lumiere asks: “What if she is the one?”

Fans are given a quick glimpse of Watson as she catches sight of the enchanted red rose, which determines the Beast’s fate, as the famous song Tale As Old As Time plays in the background.

The film features an all-star cast including Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Josh Gad as Lefou, Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts and Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe.

Watson announced her involvement with the Bill Condon directed film on Facebook in January last year.

Excited to start shooting the Disney classic, she wrote: “My six-year-old self is on the ceiling, heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Alan Menken, who won Best Original Score and Best Song at the Academy Awards for the 1991 Disney animated film will re-record songs as well as writing new tracks with Tim Rice.

Beauty and the Beast is set for UK cinema release on March 17, 2017.
