Zayn Malik has been spotted leaving his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s Manhattan apartment – the morning after he first arrived.

The couple, who split after two years last month, have sparked reconciliation rumours following the apparent overnight stay.

Malik tried to keep a low-profile as he left Hadid’s apartment on Thursday, despite his bright red hoodie and fluorescent trainers.

He was pictured wearing the same outfit the previous day.

The Pillow Talk singer split from the Victoria’s Secret model in March this year. In a statement on Twitter, Hadid said “there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years.”

She posted: “I’m forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for.”

Hadid appeared to be open to a possible future reconciliation, finishing: “As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will always be.”

Malik also posted confirmation of their break-up on Twitter and asked fans for “privacy at this time.”

The singer-songwriter was dropped by his management company this week just two months before his album launch after reports that he had become “difficult” to work with.

The Bradford-born artist, who found fame as one fifth of boy band One Direction, posted a series of uncharacteristic, ‘moody’ selfies in the wake of his split.

His Instagram feed has since been cleared and replaced with promotion videos for his upcoming album.
