Zayn Malik has parted ways with his management company just two months ahead of the release of his second solo album.

The former One Direction star has reportedly been dropped by First Access Management’s co-founder Sarah Stennett after he became “challenging” to work with.

Stennett confirmed that she had ended her professional relationship with Malik, telling Variety that it had been a “difficult decision”.

“Sometimes in life you have to make extremely difficult decisions to effect positive change for everyone,” she said.

Malik joined forces with Stennett when he quit the band back in 2015 and they released his chart-topping first album, Mind of Mine, a year later.

According to reports, Malik declined many promotional opportunities around the release and declined to tour, following battles with stress and anxiety.

The Bradford-born singer released Let Me, the first single from his follow-up album, last month and is set to drop the entire record in June.

He recently told Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw that he had grown in confidence since working on “personal issues” and was looking forward to promoting the forthcoming album.

“I think my confidence has grown in the last year and a half. Just working on a lot of personal issues with just me, leaving the band and not really knowing what was going on for a while,” he said.

“I was just putting out a record and not really being as prominent as I wanted to be. But this time around I feel like I am more confident and I really believe in what's going on, so I want to convey that to my fans.”

Malik recently split from model Gigi Hadid after two years together, breaking the news in an emotional Instagram post.

Addressing the speculation that had started to spread, Malik wrote: “Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend.

“She has such an incredible soul. I'm grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all.xZ”
