Stars including Maya Jama and Amber Davies have lead tributes to Aaron Armstrong following the sad news of his death.

Armstrong was found by police at his home in Blyth, Northumberland, in the early hours of Tuesday, just a few weeks after the death of his girlfriend Sophie Gradon.

Presenter Jama urged people to “be careful” about how they treat each other in a Twitter post, blasting cruel online “trolls”.

“Heartbreaking to hear that Sophie Gradon's boyfriend Aaron has taken his life weeks after she passed, please be careful with how you treat people online and in real life, if it is really to do with trolls I hope those that contributed learn from this how damaging it really is,” she wrote.

Love Island star Davies posted: “Awful news. Thinking of Aaron Armstrong’s family! @sophiegradon and her love now together.”

Zara Holland added: “Awful news, RIP Aaron.”

Sky News presenter Stephen Dixon told his followers to “reach out” if they were feeling unhappy or depressed, posting a photo of Gradon and Armstrong from just a few weeks ago.

“Feel very very sad to hear of the death of Aaron Armstrong. Just a weeks from this picture both have gone,” he wrote.

“If you ever feel so low, reach out to friends or @samaritans and talk in confidence to people who will listen without judging. There's always a path forward.”

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At around 12.20pm on July 10 police received a report from the ambulance service that a 25-year-old man had been found deceased at a property on Furnace Road in Bebside, Blyth.

“There is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.”

His death comes days after he attended Gradon’s funeral after she died, aged 32, on June 20.

He posted an emotional tribute to his girlfriend on Instagram, telling his followers that he couldn't "stop crying".

Alongside an image of the funeral order of service, Mr Armstrong wrote: “I love you with all my heart my beautiful angel...

“I'm absolutely heartbroken I can't stop crying and I can feel your spirit in my soul... RIP Sophie Hannah Gradon.”
