New Year, new Twitter feud for Wiley. The grime MC star has taken aim at Stormzy and his chart-topping new album Heavy Is The Head - particularly, his collaboration with Ed Sheeran (and Burna Boy) on their track ‘Own It.’

In a somewhat confusing argument (it did go down on Twitter, after all), Wiley brought up Strormzy’s name in a thread of tweets linking him to Sheeran and later claiming Jay-Z only wanted to work with the ‘Vossi Bop’ rapper because Sheeran was involved.

Stormzy (who paid tribute to Wiley on his latest album with the track 'Wiley Flow') seemingly tried to extricate himself from any drama by tweeting back to Wiley, “Lol yes please bro all I’ve done is love and respect you leave me alone you weirdo.”

But Wiley has never been one to step away from an argument, replying, “Hold on calm down mike cos I will bury you today.”

Naturally, that didn’t go over so well, and the two engaged in a back and forth spat that included (among many) the below tweets.

“I was minding my business you weirdo, you say my name everyday you’re mad weird, all I do is show you love and respect, you old mcs are so weird.”

“Heavy is the head wtf this guy is not wearing any crown.”

Wiley eventually suggested that the two should “link up” for a talk to settle their differences, but Stormzy was having none of it, replying, “Shut up man no one wants to link you you dinosaur,” before eventually ignoring Wiley’s insults altogether.

Stormzy isn’t the only artist to be criticized by Wiley on Twitter for working with Ed Sheeran. In September 2019, Wiley, who once collaborated with Sheeran back in 2011, found fault with both Ed Sheeran and Drake for adopting the grime genre into their music.

Wiley has even brought up his distaste for Stormzy and Sheeran’s work together, subtweeting about the duo’s 2019 collaboration, ‘Take Me Back To London,’ that he was “sick of people using grime to look good for two minutes.”

Stormzy defended Sheeran in that instance as well, saying that Sheeran had “been doing [grime] from early, been a real one from early [on].” So it doesn’t look like Wiley will be quiet on the subject anytime soon.
