Yorkshire play down Vaughan concern

12 April 2012

Yorkshire coach Martyn Moxon allayed fears over Michael Vaughan's fitness after the England captain had to leave the field with a "stiff back" in the Roses match.

Vaughan was out of the action from mid-afternoon on Thursday, the final day of the LV County Championship Division One fixture at Old Trafford, raising concerns about his wellbeing with the first Test against India at Lord's due to start in eight days' time.

But Moxon reported: "He's got a little bit of a stiff back. He's off as a precaution - it's nothing to worry about."

Before returning for the Headingley Test against the West Indies in May, Vaughan had missed 18 months of international cricket while undergoing two bouts of surgery because of knee problems.
