Woodward could cap West's week

Ian Stafford|Mail13 April 2012

For Dorian West, the next seven days could amount to the most important week of his professional life.

The Leicester hooker hopes to get the nod from England manager Clive Woodward to play against Wales on Saturday but first comes this afternoon's Heineken Cup quarter-final against Swansea.

West has no doubts where today's Anglo-Welsh encounter stands in Leicester's recent history. 'It's the most important game the club have faced since losing the European Cup final in 1997 to Brive,' he said. 'We'll be playing in front of a full house at Welford Road against quality opposition. We're desperate not only to beat Swansea but to win the Heineken Cup.'

As for Saturday's international, all West can do is hope. With Phil Greening injured and Mark Regan struggling for form, the Leicester hooker stands a good chance of being called up by England.

He added: 'I hope I can get a game. If I do, I'll try my best.'
