Wimbledon gets volley from Tim

13 April 2012

Tim Henman took another swipe at Wimbledon today while continuing his build-up towards next month's US Open.

Immediately after his Wimbledon semi-final defeat by Lleyton Hewitt, Henman claimed his chances had been reduced by the slow courts.

The British No1, who is due to play James Blake in the second round of this week's Master Series hardcourt tournament in Toronto, said: "The conditions here are a lot better than at Wimbledon.

"There is no comparison in the speed of the court. It would be nice if the conditions played this fast at Wimbledon."

Grass has always been regarded as the sport's fastest surface, making Wimbledon the one Grand Slam to give an advantage to serve-andvolley experts. But this year's championship was dominated by baseline players.

Henman said: "I thought I had an incredible chance this time but Lleyton should pay off the groundsman for keeping the courts so slow."
