West Ham's late call on Hutchison

Don Hutchison is doubtful for West Ham as they look to beat Brighton tomorrow and close the gap on Championship leaders Wigan.

Hutchison picked up a knock on his way to being man-of-the-match in last weekend's 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers.

Manager Alan Pardew said: "Hutch hasn't trained all week but we'll leave it as late as we can before making a decision."

Pardew would also like former England striker Teddy Sheringham to be involved at Upton Park against the Seagulls but admitted: "Teddy is still not 100 per cent and it makes no sense to rush him."

Pardew believes that West Ham fans, who continue to turn up in force, are coming to terms with the realities of life outside the Premiership.

He said: "Last season there was a feeling of 'how did we lose to them?' I think the West Ham public are beginning to realise what life is like in this division. Every game is tight, every team are well organised.

"I do believe, though, that Wigan losing last weekend has given the rest of us some impetus."
