Wales put Iestyn on fast track

13 April 2012

Wales, worried about a dire need for inspiration, will rush Iestyn Harris into fly half action against Argentina on November 10 - even though he does not play his first full game of rugby union until Saturday.

Forty minutes as a Cardiff substitute at Llanelli last weekend was enough to push Great Britain's former rugby league full back into the frame. Wales rugby union manager Alan Phillips said: 'I was very impressed. I think we will be looking to use him in the autumn internationals.' Harris, who kicked a penalty, two conversions and set up Cardiff's second try against Llanelli, will start against Glasgow in the Heineken Cup on Saturday.

He said: 'It would be fantastic if I got the call but if I have to wait, then so be it. I was just glad to get Saturday's game under my belt.

'I made a few mistakes but I enjoyed it. Hopefully, I can keep playing well for Cardiff and anything else will be a bonus.'
