Vialli's men leave it late

13 April 2012
Bristol City 2 Watford 3

Two goals in the last three minutes by Ramon Vega and Micah Hyde gave Watford a fortunate place in the third round of the Worthington Cup.

Gianluca Vialli's side looked down and out when Simon Clist headed Bristol City in front three minutes after half-time and Tony Thorpe volleyed the home side's second goal seven minutes later.

But the match turned on a 73rd-minute penalty, converted by Marcus Gayle after a foul on Tommy Smith.

Watford laid seige to the City goal and Vega's nearpost equaliser looked to be taking the game into extra-time until Hyde grabbed the winner.

It was the first time Bristol City had been beaten this season.
