Tottenham striker Harry Kane becomes ambassador for new NFL Academy

England captain Harry Kane has been named as an official ambassador for the NFL’s new London-based academy.

The NFL Academy launches at Barnet and Southgate College this September, with 16-18-year-olds being given the chance to receive an education alongside professional football coaching.

Trials for the first intake have been taking place at Tottenham’s new stadium this week, which was designed with specific American football facilities and will host its first regular season NFL fixtures this season.

Kane, who has a well-publicised passion for American football, and has even raised the possibility of transitioning into the sport when his soccer career is over, joins a host of NFL stars to have signed up to ambassadorial roles, including Odell Beckham Jr., Patrick Mahomes and Juju Smith-Schuster.

“I’m so proud to be an Ambassador for the NFL Academy,” Kane said. “I’m a huge fan of the NFL and have been following it for a while.

“I’m so excited about the club bringing the NFL to Tottenham and the benefits the partnership has for our local community. I can’t wait to see the NFL Academy in action.”
