Terry: we'll fight back

John Terry reported for international duty today insisting that Arsenal's continued success against Chelsea has not left his team demoralised ahead of Saturday's league game between the sides.

Arsenal beat Chelsea in the FA Cup for the fourth successive year with their 2-1 fifth-round win yesterday but Terry, who should get his England chance against Portugal on Wednesday with the absence of Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell, said: 'The defeat won't count in the league game. We will get that out of our system, that's not a problem.

'Arsenal are a great side but we showed yesterday we can be as good as them, if not better. They know coming to Stamford Bridge later this week is going to be a tough game and hopefully we can get the points.

'The manager, Claudio Ranieri, said before the game that we needed to show a good tempo and to put pressure on them. We were winning our tackles and the first and second balls. They didn't like that. We were the better side in the first half.'

Meanwhile, Jose Reyes offered his apologies for his swift exit after the game but he wanted to celebrate his first Arsenal goals with his family.

Through an interpreter he sent a brief reaction: 'This was fantastic. It is the greatest feeling in the world.'

Dennis Bergkamp knew exactly how he felt. It was some six weeks into his Arsenal career back in the early autumn of 1995 that the Dutch striker scored his first goal for Arsenal.

He said: 'That first Jose goal really helped his confidence. It was a great strike and the second came after a great move.'

'When you come to England you have to deal with the physical side of the game and we will have to see how he goes. But the game against Chelsea was a typical English game. There were lots of fouls and tackles.'
