Wimbledon Order of Play Friday July 14, Day 11 Schedule: Roger Federer second on Centre Court

James Benge14 July 2017

Runaway favourite Roger Federer will be second on Centre Court on Friday at Wimbledon as the men’s competition reaches the semi-finals stage.

The world number five, the highest ranked player remaining in the draw, will face 2009 finalist Tomas Berdych in the second match confirmed on Centre Court.

Federer and Berdych will follow the battle of the big servers as Andy Murray’s conqueror, 24th seed Sam Querrey, takes on Marin Cilic.

Aside from Federer Cilic is the only player left in the draw to have won a grand slam so it is little surprise that, even at 35 and having missed six months of last year with a knee injury, the seven-time champion at SW19 is widely tipped to add another trophy.

“The plan was always to hopefully be strong also later on in my career,” Federer said.

“I don't see myself playing better than a few years ago but I always hope to improve every year. I think it's definitely different ever since my injury.

“I don't know if I'm playing better this year than I have in '14, '15 when I had great runs at Wimbledon here. Then I just ran into Novak, who was red hot.”

Elsewhere at Wimbledon the doubles competitions are also approaching the business end of the competition.
