Andrew Strauss: Unforgetable Test debut

Andrew Strauss has admitted the Lord's Test win against New Zealand capped the "most unbelievable week of my life".

The Middlesex opener, who was making his Test debut after being called in as a last-minute replacement, laid the foundations for the seven-wicket victory with innings of 112 and 83.

"This has been the most unbelievable week of my life," said Strauss. "I didn't think I would play any part in the series, so to play the part I have and be part of a fantastic victory is unbelievable."

New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, who played with Strauss during his time at Middlesex, said: "To emerge on the scene and hurt us in the way he did was disappointing from my point of view."

Jacob Oram will have a side strain assessed in the coming days, while the New Zealanders also hope Shane Bond will be fit for Leeds after a back injury.
