Sir Bobby slams £16m Bent

Former England manager Bobby Robson has questioned the £16.7m Spurs paid for Darren Bent who scored his second goal for the club in last night's 6-1 UEFA Cup win over Famagusta.

Robson told fanbanta.com: "Three years ago, Charlton signed Bent from Ipswich for £2.6m. He did well in his first year and his price escalated beyond his real quality.

"Spurs have definitely paid too much for him."

And Robson also singled out Bent's failure to score in the 3-1 defeat at the hands of northern London rivals Arsenal last week. He added: "Spurs missed some good chances. Especially Bent — he only had the goalkeeper to beat."
