Saltman's return suffers a sour start

Elliot Saltman returned to golf today after a three-month ban only to have a double-bogey six at the first hole of today's Spanish Open.

The Scot did get a birdie at the second and reached three over at the turn, seven behind the early leader, Spain's Jesus Maria Arruti.

Golf chiefs said Saltman, 29, was found guilty of "a serious breach" of the rules after incorrectly marking his ball at a Challenger Tour event.
