Rooney in the clear

The Football Association will take no action against Wayne Rooney for his badge-kissing antics in Manchester United's 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Rooney was booked for a foul on Mikel Arteta and, with tempers starting to fray, Sir Alex Ferguson removed the England man from the field. He responded by kissing his badge, a move which clearly could be regarded as inflammatory at his former club.

However, the FA have confirmed they will not be investigating the matter further as referee Alan Wiley saw the incident at the time and had a quiet word with Rooney.
