Robson puts his faith in Kuszczak

14 April 2012

Bryan Robson has no fears about throwing Tomasz Kuszczak into West Brom's most important game for years against Portsmouth on Sunday.

The West Brom manager is unlikely to risk regular No1 Russell Hoult in their Premiership finale after the goalkeeper limped out of last week's draw at Manchester United with a groin injury.

Substitute Kuszczak performed heroics to save a point for the Baggies which kept their unlikely top-flight survival bid alive.

"His temperament was really good in front of more than 67,000 people," said Robson. "He had to make a lot of interceptions and saves and did very well.

"His composure on his kicking was also good so hopefully he'll have the same composure in the game on Sunday, if he plays, but will have nowhere near as much to do. He's a good professional."

Kuszczak has played understudy to Hoult since his summer switch from Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, making just two starts and one substitute appearance before his Old Trafford display.
