Rigters in warning shot to Blackburn

12 April 2012

Maceo Rigters has warned Blackburn Rovers he wants a loan move if he cannot nail down a first-team place at Ewood Park.

The 23-year-old is finding life on the sidelines difficult and would like to leave if he does not get a starting berth soon.

He told Dutch newspaper BN/De Stem: "If that is not the case, I want to see the club loan me out as soon as possible. But I am not thinking about that yet."

He added: "Of course it is frustrating, but there are some very good players before me and when the club wins four games in a row, you know that you still have to wait for a chance."

Rigters, who joined Rovers in the summer from NAC Breda, hopes to get his chance in the coming weeks and was encouraged by a recent chat with Blackburn boss Mark Hughes.

He said: "Hughes told me that I have simply been unlucky and that the other strikers are doing so well. So who knows? I might be playing games in a couple of weeks."
