Reo-Coker completes Hammers move

14 April 2012

Nigel Reo-Coker has set his sights on reaching the Premiership after completing his move to West Ham from Division One rivals Wimbledon.

The 19-year-old, who had been captain of the Dons, attracted interest from Crystal Palace, Leicester, Portsmouth, Tottenham and Cardiff this season but the England Under-21 international has joined the Hammers after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Reo-Coker said: "I am delighted to have signed and am really looking forward to the chance of playing.

"There is a lot of potential at West Ham with the players and the manager we have here. It is a big club and there is the opportunity to do well and get back in the Premiership.

"I believe that West Ham can definitely get back into the Premiership first time, there are no doubts about it.

"We haven't lost many games, though I know there have been a lot of draws, and I have every confidence things can move upwards."

Reo-Coker also revealed Hammers boss Alan Pardew was a key factor in his decision to move to Upton Park.

The midfielder told the club's official website, www.whufc.com: "He was definitely a big influence in my decision. I had heard about him, I asked about him and I know a few players that have played under him.

"He is looking at the development of the club as well as the player so hopefully we can rise together."

Reo-Coker is ineligible to make his debut in the FA Cup fourth-round clash with Wolves on Sunday as he is cup-tied.
