Ranieri's pointer for new season

Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri will put his faith in youth this season after failing to strengthen his squad over the summer.

Financial constraints at Stamford-Bridge put paid to any hopes of big-name signings but the Italian claims he is happy to blood youngsters in the first team.

"The transfer market is going crazy at the moment so it's important to stay calm," said Ranieri ahead of tonight's pre-season friendly at Wycombe.

"We have good young players and we have to believe in them. When players come through you have to give give them a go and that is what I plan to do this season.

"We have a strong squad but there is still room for someone to make their mark."
