Ranieri backs Dalla Bona

13 April 2012

Claudio Ranieri today said that he is sure Sam Dalla Bona will succeed in Italy, despite the midfielder's failure to make an impact at AC Milan.

Ranieri, whose side are second in the Premiership, said: "I've said to Sam a thousand times that it was a mistake to leave Chelsea for Milan. I'm disappointed to see him on the bench but I'm certain that he'll make it."

The Chelsea manager has put his side's good form this season down to a combination of financial restraints and his improved grasp of English. He said: "Paradoxically, the difficult financial situation of the club has helped us. There has not been any need to vary the tactical play.

"My progress in learning English has also helped a lot - the boys understand me and it is good for all of us."
