QPR let Bonnot go

13 April 2012

Alex Bonnot has left Loftus Road after being told the club could not afford to renew his contract.

The midfielder's short-term deal ran out yesterday and, despite frantic last-minute efforts to keep him, manager Ian Holloway has had to admit defeat.

He said: "We're over budget and we've got a transfer embargo, so there was nothing I could do to keep Alex," said Holloway. QPR face Blackpool at home tomorrow with Andy Thomson (back) and Gavin Peacock (calf) still out. Fraser Digby (knee) and Matthew Rose (back) are hopeful of being fit.
