PRL stance angers Scotland coach

12 April 2012

Scotland coach Frank Hadden has criticised Premier Rugby (PRL) after three of his key squad members were prevented from joining Tuesday's training session.

The Scottish Rugby Union have been in talks regarding the positions of Leicester lock Jim Hamilton, Northampton winger Sean Lamont and Gloucester scrum-half Rory Lawson.

Hadden said: "This is most unsatisfactory. This decision taken by PRL at the highest level is most unhelpful for Scotland during our preparations for a vitally important Six Nations Test match against Italy."

The SRU have been in touch with the Rugby Football Union in the hope they can work together to find a solution to the club-versus-country wrangle.

The RFU are concerned that over half the England squad could potentially be involved in Premiership rugby on Sunday, just six days before the clash with Ireland.
