Powell: I want another England chance

Charlton defender Chris Powell has pleaded with England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson not to rule him out of his future plans.

The 31-year-old fullback was a surprise choice in both of Eriksson's first games in charge, against Spain and Finland, but lost his place to Arsenal's Ashley Cole against Albania.

Powell said: "I was disappointed obviously but I was in a squad and no one has a divine right to play. I just hope I will get another chance.

"We discussed certain things and I am old enough and wise enough to take it on the chin."
