Ann Martin13 April 2012

Pialotta has been sold for a world record fee believed to be in excess of £3 million.

The mare has been bought by the sponsors of Austrian Tatiana Freitag von Leren Lorenghoven.

Dutch owner Yan Tops said: "Pialotta ranks among the world's best and we have sold her at a commensurate price."

The 11-year-old Pialotta won 20 Grands Prix with Sweden's Rolf-Goran Bengtsson in the saddle and the combination won team silver and individual bronze at last year's European Championships.
