Pay rise and new deal for Ashley Cole

13 April 2012

Ashley Cole expects to agree a new long-term contract this summer.

The left-back has two years left on his deal but the Blues want to reward him for his best season at the club with a pay-rise to more than £100,000 a week.

Barcelona are keen on Cole, who won a record fifth FA Cup winner's medal on Saturday, but the 28-year-old insists he is not looking to leave. When asked if he wanted his long-term future at the club sorted out, Cole said: "Of course."

Midfielder Michael Ballack also expects to sign an option in his contract that will see him stay for one more year.

Didier Drogba will accept any punishment for his outburst towards referee Tom Henning Ovrebo after the Champions League exit to Barcelona. UEFA are expected to give the striker a lengthy ban on 17 June but he said: "I will do my suspension."
