'America's team', the Dallas Cowboys, will play in Britain for the first time next year.

In a contest being billed by NFL UK managing director Alistair Kirkwood as London's team versus America's, the Cowboys will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley in one of next year's three International Series games.

The Jaguars are slated to play an annual 'home' contest in London each year until 2016, starting with Sunday's meeting with the San Francisco 49ers.

Kirkwood said: "Having the Cowboys, known as 'America's team', coming to the UK to face London's team, the Jaguars, is a great opportunity for us and an exciting development."

The visit of the Cowboys, synonymous with the sport, highlights a mouth-watering schedule as the NFL brings three games to London for the first time.

It was announced two weeks ago that the other 'home' teams will be the Oakland Raiders and Atlanta Falcons, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell revealed their opponents on Thursday.

The Raiders, who feature two Brits in offensive tackle Menelik Watson and defensive end Jack Crawford, will take on the Miami Dolphins, with Atlanta facing the Detroit Lions.

Speaking about the former match-up, Kirkwood added: "The clash between the Raiders and the Dolphins not only means our fans can see their own British players in action but will be a match-up between two of the most popular teams in the country."

Goodell added: "Our fans in the UK continue to demonstrate their passion for football.

"The growing enthusiasm for the NFL internationally is exciting and we look forward to continuing to respond to this interest in the game."

The Atlanta-Detroit clash will see outstanding wide receiver Calvin Johnson, known as Megatron, play on these shores for the first time.

Goodell added: "I know how excited people here will be to see Calvin 'Megatron' Johnson in the flesh."
