Now Claudio wants some rugby spirit

Lawrence Dallaglio revealed today that Claudio Ranieri told him that he wants to use England's Rugby World Cup spirit to bolster his bid for Premiership glory this season.

Chelsea moved to the top of the Premiership with their 1-0 win over Manchester United and England's World Cup triumph was used to help create a special atmosphere at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

Long-time Blues supporter Dallaglio and England head coach Clive Woodward were asked to do a lap of honour before the kick-off against United. As flanker Dallaglio accepted the thunderous applause from the 42,000 crowd just a week after helping defeat Australia in the historic final in Sydney, he was approached by Ranieri on the pitch as Chelsea's players warmed up for the clash.

Dallaglio said: "It was an amazing moment to be called over by Claudio Ranieri and introduced to all the Chelsea players with the crowd clapping and cheering

"Claudio said he had been watching the Rugby World Cup and added that he wanted me to give the players some of the spirit we showed.

"It was a fantastic end to an unforgettable week and I was delighted to get an invite to the game with my partner Alice along with Clive and Jayne Woodward. We had a great day and what a brilliant result. It doesn't get much better than this; winning the World Cup, beating Manchester United and going top!"
