Andrey Arshavin said today he had no regrets about joining Arsenal, even though he was on the fringes of the squad for the last two seasons.

Russia forward Arshavin moved from Zenit St Petersburg for £15million in 2009 and he has rejoined the club in his homeland after being released by the Gunners.

Arshavin (above) started well at Arsenal and just three months after joining them he scored all of his side’s goals in a 4-4 draw at Liverpool. But he scored only twice in the 2011-12 campaign, which he ended with a period on loan at Zenit, and then played only 11 games for Arsenal last term.

Despite becoming an outcast at Arsenal, Arshavin is not bitter. Asked by Russian newspaper Sport Express if joining Arsenal had been the right move he said: “Yes, I do not regret anything.

“I was at a big club, worked side by side with strong players and lived in a different environment with a very different mentality. In general, I learned a lot of useful things.”

Arshavin said it had been hard being out of the team. He added: “In this situation you have to stay mentally strong.”

Djibril Cisse has left Queens Park Rangers by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old former Liverpool striker, who joined QPR from Lazio in January 2012, spent the second half of last season on loan at Qatari team Al-Gharaf.
