Mutu exploits ban loophole

14 April 2012

The Football Association have appealed to FIFA to stop drug cheat Adrian Mutu training with his new club Juventus.

The Romanian international striker is exploiting a loophole in his ban by training with the Italian giants.

Mutu, 26, was suspended from football-related activities for seven months after testing positive for cocaine use while with Chelsea.

The Barclays Premiership leaders subsequently sacked the striker who last week pulled out of a Premier League appeal against his dismissal.

However, Mutu can train freely on foreign soil and the loophole has angered FA chiefs who want FIFA to act.

Mutu's playing ban expires on May 18 and Juventus want him match fit for the last two games of the Serie A season and the chance of a shock return in the Champions League final on May 25.

Mutu has now refused to speak about his time in England as he puts his career back on track in Italy.

He said: "My life has meaning again. There is a period in England I don't want to talk about."
