Murray blasts through

12 April 2012

Andy Murray comfortably discarded Frenchman Nicolas Mahut to reach the fourth round of the Pacific Life Open.

The 19-year-old saw off Wesley Moodie in the second round and was similarly untroubled against Mahut at Indian Wells.

Despite improving on a hapless first set to produce more of a fight in the second, Mahut never really stood a chance as Murray was ruthless throughout to win 6-1 6-3.

"I think I played well," Murray said.

"It was always going to be difficult against him, he's got a really big serve, he is pretty aggressive at the back off the forehand.

"You have to play solid tennis and not give him too many chances, put the pressure on his service games and I did that," he told Sky Sports Xtra.
