Misfiring Burton carries the can for Allen's men

Deon Burton found himself identified as the latest culprit today as Martin Allen blamed Brentford's brittle away form on poor finishing.

Brentford's 4-1 defeat at Bristol City was their third successive loss on their travels. Allen said: "At the end of last season, away from home, we played solid and we took our chances. At the moment we are not taking our chances.

"At 0-0, Deon Burton has a header from eight yards out, a free header, and misses. At 0-1, just after half-time, he has an empty goal from 30 yards, and if that goes in it's 1-1. These chances have to be taken." Kevin O'Connor scored Brentford's consolation after an hour.

Meanwhile, Orient manager Martin Ling expressed relief after watching his side earn their first home win of the season.

Substitute Tom Newey hit Orient's winner in a 2-1 triumph over Rochdale and Ling said: "It was hard work and it's going to make me an old man before my time. I can't work out how we can play so well in the first half and so badly in the second.

"The only excuse I can give is that not winning at home since February seems to have be playing on their minds."
