Minute’s silence held at Edgbaston as ICC confirm heightened security measures for India and Pakistan following London terror attacks

A minute’s silence was held at Edgbaston on Sunday ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan following the terror attacks in London.

Two separate incidents took place at London Bridge and Borough Market. Seven people have been killed, with a further 48 injured in the atrocities.

Attackers brought carnage to the streets of the London, stabbing a police officer and revellers with 12-inch knives, reportedly shouting "this is for Allah".

The attackers, who are understood to have been wearing fake suicide vests, unleashed a targeted attack on people enjoying a Saturday night out in central London.

The police have confirmed that the three terrorists were shot dead by officers.

And Edgbaston, which hosted the Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan, saw a minute’s silence observed before play got under way.

The ICC confirmed that an increased security presence was in place for Sunday’s match.
