James to hold Celtic talks

Neil Lennon has revealed England goalkeeper David James is to hold talks with Celtic on Monday over a possible move to Parkhead.

James' future has remained uncertain since his contract with Portsmouth expired at the end of the season and although Pompey were initially keen to retain the 39-year-old, they withdrew their offer when a set deadline came and went. And Hoops boss Lennon, who has already signed five new players this summer and has promised more to come, will get his chance to persuade James to ply his trade north of the border.

"He's hopefully coming up on Monday to have talks and look at the place and we'll take it from there," Lennon told Sky Sport News.

A number of clubs have been linked with the former Liverpool keeper, with Sunderland manager Steve Bruce confirming his interest earlier on Saturday.
