Muzzy Izzet was so swept up in the emotion of his winning Leicester farewell that he could not quite bear the thought of ending his six-year career at the relegated club.

The midfielder was in fine form as Leicester's 111-year stay at Filbert Street ended with a victory over Tottenham.

Izzet hinted that Middlesbrough may prove to be his new destination, saying: 'I will speak to Steve McClaren (Boro's manager) now the season's finished. He made me a great offer.'

Goals from Paul Dickov and Matthew Piper helped inflict defeat on Spurs, who had gone ahead through Teddy Sheringham's penalty.
