Italian FA lodge referee complaint

Italian Football Association chiefs have today lodged a complaint with UEFA over the refereeing of Jose Maria Garcia-Aranda in Roma's 1-0 win against Liverpool at Anfield last night.

Liverpool went through to meet Portuguese side Porto in the UEFA Cup quarterfinals after winning the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

But the Spanish official had incensed the Italians after appearing to award them a penalty for handball against Markus Babbel, only to change his mind and give a corner.
