Ipswich v Charlton

14 April 2012

(3pm, Portman Road).
Tickets: Sold out
Last season: 4 (Scowcroft, Venus, Johnson, Stockwell) 2 (Hunt 2)
Fact: Ipswich are unbeaten in their past four home games
Recommended pub: Drum and Monkey (Princes Street)
There were those who, when Charlton and Ipswich were promoted, winked knowingly and predicted they would go straight back from whence they came. It is possible the prophets of doom could still be right, but on the evidence of the first three months of the season, it doesn't seem likely. After a dozen matches both these well-run clubs are on 18 points and in the top half of the table. Tomorrow's match will be, as the bishop said to the actress who lived in a cul-de-sac, a close affair and the wisest policy here could be to sit on the fence - at least you keep your feet dry.
VERDICT: CAN'T PICK A WINNER
