Injured Carr now out for six weeks

13 April 2012

Tottenham full-back Stephen Carr is facing another six weeks on the sidelines after being told he needs surgery on a hernia.

The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international has missed Tottenham's last two games after coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Manchester City on 10 February.

Carr told icons.com: "My specialist has told me that I'll need an operation for a slight hernia. I'm flying to Germany tomorrow to have the operation and, hopefully, I'll be back by tomorrow night or Saturday night.

"I'm going to be out for six weeks, which is hard going, but my main feeling is one of relief because we now know what the problem is and we're moving in the right direction.

"People can say what they like but I did have a genuine groin injury in the first month, and then I developed this condition. Now I'm just looking to getting it sorted."
