Hero Hiddink eyeing Premiership

Guus Hiddink, the Dutchman who has become the hero of South Korea by leading them into the World Cup quarterfinals, wants to manage in the Premiership next season.

Hiddink's contract with South Korea expires after the World Cup and although there will be huge efforts to get him to stay after the sensational golden-goal victory over Italy yesterday, Standard Sport can reveal that he wants a job in England.

South Korean government officials are considering law changes to give the former manager of Holland, Real Madrid and PSV Eindhoven, where he won the European Cup in 1988, honorary citizenship of his adopted home.

But Hiddink's representatives are already making enquiries in England as to potential managerial openings.
