Henry's pledge to Arsenal

Thierry Henry today committed his long-term future to Arsenal.

The French striker, in his first interview since before the World Cup, made it clear he wants to stay at the club long enough to play at the new £150 million stadium at Ashburton Grove.

Henry said: "I am so happy at Arsenal and I definitely want to play in the new stadium."

To fulfil his ambition, the 24-year-old will need to sign a new contract.

He has two years left on his present deal and it is estimated that the new stadium will be completed in 2006.

Henry had a superb season as Arsenal claimed the League and FA Cup double.

He was the Premiership's leading scorer with 24 goals and also netted seven goals in the Champions League and one in the FA Cup.

Henry, who joined from Juventus for £10.5m four years ago, was back in training with Arsene Wenger's side again this morning after missing last night's 6-1 friendly win over Conference side Stevenage.

Keen to put France's failed attempt to retain the World Cup behind him, Henry admitted: "What we did at Arsenal last year was incredible and we deserved to win the Double.

"We played good football. Now the big thing is to win the Champions League."

Meanwhile, Wenger confirmed today that England goalkeeper David Seaman has signed a new one-year contract.
