Henman declines Zagreb invitation

12 April 2012

Tim Henman has turned down the chance to make a return to competitive tennis in the PBZ Zagreb Indoor event next week.

The former British number one was a notable absentee at the Australian Open as he struggled to shake off a knee problem sustained in December.

Henman told his personal website: "I'm on the mend but I'm not quite there yet, so it would be foolish of me to step straight onto the match court next week."

He added: "My leg is certainly a lot better than it was a couple of weeks ago and it's responded well to some laser and ultrasound treatment. I'm running on it and it feels fine but I haven't really pushed it fully yet on court.

"Hopefully I'll be able to do that by the end of next week and then I'll have time to prepare for Marseille ( February 12)."
