Tim Henman had to fight hard in the second set of his match with Felix Mantilla to earn a place in the last 16 of the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami.

Mantilla lost to 15 when he served a double fault, handing Henman a meeting with Switzerland's Roger Federer.

Pete Sampras was humbled 7-6, 6-1 by Chilean qualifier Fernando Gonzalez, extending the American's title drought to 24 tournaments. Sampras surged to a 4-1 lead, but the Chilean broke back.

In the second set Gonzalez roared to a 5-0 lead before closing the match with a thundering ace.
