Hartson still believes Wales can qualify

13 April 2012

Revitalised John Hartson has a deep fear that Wales will live to regret the World Cup points they have thrown away.

Hartson has witnessed Wales concede the lead in crunch matches against Armenia and Ukraine.

Now he hopes that his rediscovered form can fire Wales to victory over Group Five leaders Poland in Cardiff.

Then comes the daunting trip to Kiev to face Ukraine next Wednesday.

It's a tall order now for Wales to be even thinking about qualifying for next summer's finals, but Hartson has not given up hope just yet.

He said: "We should be going into these next two games with at least four more points to our name. We were leading in Armenia but let them back to draw, and did the same against Ukraine in Cardiff.

"I know it's nice to score goals at any time, particularly for your country, but I'd give them all up for a couple of 1-0 wins.

"Scoring is great but it's the team that comes first and deep down we were all very disappointed that we've let leads slip away."
