Harry's bid for the double

13 April 2012

Harry the Hornet's thrilling victory in last year?s British Mascot Grand National is often re-run before matches on the big screen at Vicarage Road.

The Golden Boys? mascot left his better half, Harriet, for dead to win the annual event at Huntingdon Racecourse.

But he?ll have his work cut out retaining his title when the one furlong (200m) event is staged at the Cambridgeshire racecourse on Sunday.

Last year?s field of 49 runners has been more than doubled with 117 entrants, featuring mascots from other sports including Mighty Knight from the ice hockey team London Knights.

The youngest entrant is Millwall Mascot Zampa the Lion?s offspring, four-year-old Rory.

You can vote for your favourite at www.discover-racing.com, the website supporting the sport?s initiative to encourage more people to go racing.

The winning mascot will earn £500 for charity and voters at the website will get the chance to win four VIP tickets to next year?s Aintree Grand National.

Tattersall?s admission for the event, which also includes seven horse races, is £11. Kids get in free and member?s admission is £16.
